Tier 1 P&FM premises must conduct annual CERT recertification to validate competency in firefighting, hazmat response, and incident management
Regular recertification ensures your CERT members retain critical skills in firefighting, HAZMAT response, and incident command. This prepares them to act swiftly and effectively during real emergencies, minimizing risks to life and property .
Recertification includes practical drills and documentation audits (e.g., Emergency Response Plans, equipment logs) to confirm your team meets SCDF’s National CERT Standard. This builds confidence in your emergency preparedness during SCDF inspections .
Refresher training incorporates updates on new hazards, regulations, and best practices (e.g., chemical spill protocols, radiological risks). This keeps your team aligned with Singapore’s evolving fire safety landscape .
As a Approved Training Organisation (ATO) for CERT Trainings, A-CERTS provides SCDF-approved recertification program to help your team meet these mandatory requirements while enhancing emergency response capabilities.
Under Singapore’s Fire Safety Act, Tier 1 P&FM facilities – which handle high-risk operations involving flammable substances, chemicals, or large-scale industrial processes – must maintain a fully compliant and recertified CERT team at all times.
A-CERTS’ 1-day re-certification course covers:
Documentation Review (50% weightage):
Verification of Emergency Response Plans, equipment maintenance logs, and training certifications.
Practical Assessments (50% weightage):
Firefighting: Hose reel operation, extinguisher use, and BA donning.
HAZMAT Response: Spill containment, decon procedures, and PPE usage.
Scenario Drills: Simulated incidents testing teamwork under ICS (Incident Command System)
The affected Tier is Tier 1 P&FM premises (highest risk profile). It serves to enhance CERT competency in preventing as well as responding in an actual incident.
Tier 1 P&FM CERT will undertake an annual re-certification 1 day training program, which comprises theory and practical assessment, as well as a scenario exercise.
The company has 4 teams (i.e. Team A, B, C and D). Can the CERT Recertification be carried out quarterly or twice (i.e. for A+C Teams and B+D Teams)?
